We’re inviting you to help bring our 1902 freight station back to life—transforming a long-ignored landmark into a vibrant event space for weddings, community celebrations, and local business gatherings. Every gift moves us forward, but leadership-level support is what makes the biggest leaps possible: major donors allow us to tackle high-impact restoration work faster—stabilizing the structure, repairing critical systems, and preserving the historic character that makes this place special. If you’ve ever loved a small town treasure, believed in the power of shared spaces, or wanted to leave a legacy that outlasts you, this is your moment. A larger gift doesn’t just repair a building—it reopens a door for our whole community, and your name becomes part of the station’s next century of stories.
Naming rights available. Gifts $10,000 and up get complimentary venue rentals based on gift amount given. Questions? Call Leanna Knight at 267-372-4767.

Our Mission

The Rail Yard Society is dedicated to preserving, restoring, and revitalizing the historic 1902 freight stat ion in our hometown. Vacant since the 1980s, this station was once a thriving hub connecting people and commerce. We envision its transformation into a vibrant event and community space for weddings, gatherings, and local business events.

Why This Matters

Historical Preservation – Safeguard our town’s industrial heritage for future generations. Community Enrichment – Create a welcoming venue for celebrations, arts, markets, and educational programs. Economic Impact – Attract tourism, create jobs, and support local businesses through expanded event hosting.

Why Your Help Is Needed

SEPTA retains ownership of the historic freight station and only allows it to be leased—first to the Borough and then subleased to us—private developers and investors are unwilling to commit the nearly $2 million needed for restoration without the ability to hold title or build equity. A nonprofit is uniquely positioned to take on this project because our mission is community benefit rather than private return on investment. The Rail Yard Society can secure grant funding, steward the property for public use, and ensure that the restoration directly serves residents, small businesses, and visitors, even without ownership rights. This structure makes us the only viable entity to carry the project forward.
